there, I am a new contributor on this blog. I am a beginner in Bazi and ZWDS
and will attempt to translate modern Chinese texts to English. I will also
create visuals to make the understanding of bazi, ZWDS and other arts clearer.

I
start off with some basic terms of ZWDS
1、本宫(本方):是指主事的宫位。命盘中的十二宫各有所主。如论一生命运，命宫为本宫，论事业吉凶，官禄宫为本宫，论大限宫，大限宫为本宫，……以此类推。
Self palace refers to the Palace in
question. The life chart has 12 palaces which have separate categories. To
examine one's life, Ming Palace should be of reference. Each palace should be
referred to for the individual's outlook in a particular category.
2、对宫:本宫的对面宫位称对宫，即从本宫顺或逆数至第七宫。
Opposite Palace. This refers to the
Palace opposite the Palace in question. Another way of examining the position
is the 7th Palace in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.
3、邻宫:本宫的前、后二宫，称为邻宫。对某些双星来辅或夹，邻宫是很重要的。
Neighbouring Palace. This refers to
the Palace before or after the Palace in question. This can be important as the
stars sandwiching the Palace may have impact on the Palace in question.
4、四方:指本方、对方、合方和邻方。
Four corners. This refers to the Palace in question, the
Opposite Palace,
紫微斗数三合派最重要的是三方四正、对宫，最要紧的是对宫。
The three corners have a harmonious
relationship with the Palace in question. It is the 5th position in a clockwise
or anti-clockwise direction. The four opposites are at the 3rd
position in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. To comprehend the
auspiciousness of the Palace, there is a need to examine auspiciousness of the
stars in the 1st, 5th, 7th and 9th
Palace as well as their combinations of stars.
6、北斗主星:指贪狼、巨门、禄存、文曲、廉贞、武曲、破军七星。
Beidou or Great Bear/Big Dipper main
stars refer to Tanlang, Jumen, Lucun, Wenqu, Lianzhen, Wuqu and Puojun.
北斗助星:指羊陀、左右。
Bei Dou or Great Bear/Big Dipper supporting
stars refer to Tuoluo, Zuofu and Youbi.
7、南斗主星:指天府、天梁、天机、天同、天相、七杀六星。
Nandou or Milk Dipper main stars are
Tianfu, Tianliang, Tianji, Tiantong, Tianxiang and Qisha.
南斗助星:指火铃、魁钺。
Nandou or Milk Dipper supporting
stars are Huoxing, Lingxing, Tiankui and Tianyue.
8、中天主星:指紫微、太阳、太阴。
The main stars are Ziwei, Taiyang
and Taiyin.
9、正曜:指紫微星加上太阳、太阴、文昌、南斗六星、北斗七星及其辅佐星左辅、右弼，共计十九颗星。
Zhenyao refers to Ziwei, Taiyang,
Taiyin, Wenqu, Nandou Six Stars, Beidou Seven Stars as well as Zuofu, Youbi.
There are a total of 19 stars.
10、偏曜:指羊、陀、火、铃、魁、钺共六星为偏曜。
Pianyao or Secondary Stars refer to
Qingyang, Huaxing, Lingxing, Tianyue, Tiankui, Tuoluo, these six stars.
11、杂曜:除正偏曜以外，其它星辰皆为杂曜。
Zayao or Miscellaneous Stars refer
to stars other than those Zhenyao, Huayao or Pianyao.
12、化曜:指化禄、化权、代科、化忌四曜。
Huayao or Transformation Stars
refer to Hualu, Huaquan, Huake and Huaji.
13、双星:指紫府、府相、日月、左右、昌曲、空劫、火铃、羊陀、魁钺等共有35组。
Double stars or pair stars refer to
Ziwei and Tianfu, Taiyang and Taiyin, Zoufu and Youbi, Wenqu and
Wenchang, Dikong and Dijie, Huoxing and Lingxing, Qingyang and Tuoluo, Tianyue
and Tiankui. There are a total of 35 pairs.
14、三吉星:指化禄、化权、化科。
The three auspicious stars are
Hualu, Huaquan and Huake.
15、四化星:同化曜。
The Sihua or Four Transformation Stars
are the same as Huayao or Transformation stars.
16、四煞星:指羊、陀、火、铃。
The four inauspicious stars are
Qingyang, Tuoluo, Huoxing and Lingxing.
17、六吉星:指天魁、天钺、左辅、右弼、文昌、文曲。
The six auspicious stars are
Tiankui, Tianyue, Zuofu, Youbi, Wen Chang and Wenqu.
18、六煞星:指四煞星加上天空、地劫。
The six inauspicious stars are
Dikong and Dijie in addition to the abovementioned four.
19、七煞星:指六煞星加上化忌。
The seven inauspicious stars include
the abovementioned and Huaji.
20、躔次:指星辰所经行之地皆曰躔次，简称躔。
Chanci
refer to the paths which the stars take.
21、天罗、地网:命盘中的辰宫为天罗，戌宫为地网。亦合称魁罡，辰为天罡，戌为河魁。
Tianluo refers to the Chen Court and
Diwang refers to the Xu Court.
22、雷门:命盘中的卯宫。
Leimen or Thunder Door refers to Mao
Court.
23、天门:命盘中的亥宫。
Tianmen or Heaven Door refers to Hai
Court.
24、地门:命盘中的巳宫。
Dimen or Ground Door refers to Si
Court.
25、人门:命盘中的寅宫。
Renmen or Human Door refers to Yin
Court.
26、鬼门:命盘中的申宫。
Guimen or Ghost Door refers to Shen
Court.
27、遇、逢、见、坐、会、加:大多指星与星同宫而言，会也可指星在三方位。
Meet, Encounter, See, Sit, Add: This refers to stars meeting
the star in question or it could refer to the three corners.
28、守与同:各宫见单星皆曰守，见多星皆曰同。
Shou refers to a single star in a
court whereas tong refers to more than one star in a court.
29、偕与并:吉星同宫皆曰偕，凶星同宫皆曰并。
Jian refers to auspicious stars in
the same court, Bing refers to inauspicious stars in the same court.
30、冲与照:凶星在对宫而言冲，吉星在对宫而言照。
Clash refers to inauspicious stars
in the opposite palace, reflect refers to auspicious stars in the opposite
palace.
31、庙旺:星辰最亮，吉星能完全发挥优点、凶星不凶。
Miao and Wang phase where the stars
are at their brightest. The auspicious stars are at their brightest and
inauspicious stars are not inauspicious.
32、平和:星辰亮度正常、吉星吉、凶星凶。
Pinghe is where the brightness of
the stars are normal. Auspicious stars are auspicious, inauspicious stars
inauspicious.
33、落陷:星辰暗淡、吉星不吉、凶星最凶。
Luoxian phase is where the stars are
dim. Auspicious stars are inauspicious, inauspicious stars are at their most
inauspicious.
34、大运:又称大限，主10年运势。
This is the ten-year luck cycle.
35、小限:主一年运势。'
This is the annual luck cycle.
36、流年:又称太岁，主当年运势。斗君:主当月运势。
Liunian refers to the chart owner's
luck for the current year. Doujun refers to the month luck.
