天干地支 Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches - Part 2

天干地支 Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches - Part 2

The Heavenly Stems

The five elements were born by Yin and Yang, and thus divided into Yin and Yang, each of them is represented by a Heavenly Stem. Qi of all Heavenly Stem is pure, unlike Qi of Earthly Branches, which is mixed.

Jia - Yang wood
Yi - Yin wood
Bing - Yang Fire
Ding - Yin Fire
Wu - Yang Earth
Ji - Yin Earth
Geng - Yang metal
Xin - Yin metal
Ren - Yang water
Gui - Yin water

There are 5 Yang stems and 5 Yin stems
The 5 Yang are Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng and Ren
The 5 Yin are Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin and Gui

As Fire is great Yang and water is great Yin, Bing fire is the most Yang of all the stems and Yin water is the most Yin of all the stems.

The ten stems are unique, each with its own characters, when analyzing a chart, always keep in mind the element of the DayMaster, as different stems interact differently with the elements (other gods) in the chart.
