BaZi: Athletes - Phil Mickelson

Mickelson, Phil, rank #7 on Forbest list - total earning USD 49 m
Born 16 June 1970 at 15:45 at San Diego California - LAT 2:55pm

A clean Rob Wealth structure that uses Wealth and Officer, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo's chart. The difference is that this one has Wealth and Officer on the Year and Month pillar which indicates....

Also, Mao Wei forms a partial Seal frame.

  1. Hi Trey,
    this is decha_woo

I have been following your recent case studies of celebrities which look very interesting. I notice that most of cases has double HS element, i.e. the same HS though some having different EB. This reminds me curiosity about reaction with the incoming AP or LP.

I have long wondered how affectionate is going to be if, say, the incoming LP has potential to combine with both HS and EB of a pillar in the chart while having potential to combine only either HS or EB with other pillar(s), or to clash with only their EBs.

Let's assume the case like this case of Mr. Mickelson but make it having no Ren-WU as month pillar. Further assumed that there is Ren-Wu coming in as LP, will Ren-Wu have reaction for both Ding-Wei hour pillar and Ding-Mao day pillar one by one? Or, given Ren-Wu have potential to combine with both HS and EB(6 combo) of Ding-Wei, will there be only Ding-Wei having reaction in form of whole pillar combination and leaving Ding-Mao intact?

For reaction among 4 pillars in the chart, I have heard that there may be such a case of the most affectionate relationship among some pillar or HS/EB which can prevent reaction with the remaining pillar. This is such as San He of 3 EB in a row which can leave the remaining EB intact even in case of clash. For example, assumed Si-You-Chou in HP-DP-MP to be a Metal frame, even in case there is Wei in YP, there will be no clash with Chou in MP.
Is my understanding about this right or wrong?

    Please help.

  2. Dear DW,

We can only deduce if a combination is favorable or not favorable after we know the roles of the gods involved. For example, Phil's chart uses Officer engendered by Wealth, these are 2 auspicious gods that are working to his benefits. Ding parallel on the HS is idle. But if there's another Officer Ren arriving at the LP, Ding idle god would combine with the unwanted extra Officer, saving the chart from encountering 2 Officers.

A chapter in ZPZQ explains what happens if a pillar interacts with 2 pillars at once, unfortunately I don't have that chapter here. It was translated by ShiXiang in fivearts.net but then the forum is closed.

If we take out the Month Pillar, it's not possible to know the chart structure. Thus we cannot know which gods are useful, idle or harmful and consequently we cannot deduce the outcome of the combination.

If there's a triple combination like Shen Zi Chen seeing Yin, Yin will still clash Shen, but the clash will not cause movement because Shen is locked in a combination.

  3. Hi Trey,

Actually, I have heard opinions of both.

Some people say in case of whole-pillar combination - with both HS and EB, especially, between LP and a pillar in the chart, this relationship can prevent reaction with other pillars which have potential combination with either HS or EB only.

Some, on the contrary, give opinion that all pillars, including LP and AP, always have interaction and/or reaction in a way with one another. But for the San He, including the example you give, it is agreed that the incurred frame could prevent influence with other pillars.

I, myself, kinda believe in the latter opinion, but still feel unsure about it. I think I should still hold this concept at this time.

    Thank you very much, Trey!

    1. Dear DW,

Six combination is the pairing of Yin and Yang, it's like husband and wife, triple combination is like a gang of friends, they live at the same place, clash is between me and my enemy, harm is the relationship between me and my enemy's spouse. Even if I am married, I still can have friends and enemies.

      Regards

    2. Hi Trey,

Hmm... Do you imply that even with Triple Combination, those pillars having combination could still have other relationship aspects, i.e. clash or Six Combination, with the remaining pillars?

Or is it only the case of having Six Combination which can have other relationships with other pillars?

      Please help.

  4. Hi DW,

    1. Even if the EB is involved in a directional combination like Shen You Xu or triple combination like Si You Chou, it can still clash and combine, like for example

    Si You Shen Xu

Even though You is in a west directional combination, it can still combine with Si, forming Si-You a half metal frame. This is explained in DTS chapter 11 - direction and frame.

Besides this, other classical poems also indicate that clashes can happen to any of the EB involved in a triple combo but I cannot recall exactly which poem.

    2. Yes, even if the EB is involved in a 6 combo, it can still react with other EBs, under certain circumstances

    For example

    Mao You Si X

Because Si-You form a half metal frame, You-Mao clash will not cause movement.

    Mao You Si Hai

Because Si is clashing Hai, Mao will clash You, the half metal frame is broken.
This also applies to 6 combinations, punishments, harms, etc.

    Regards
    Trey

    1. Dear Trey,

Can you clarify more on what is the meaning of the wealth and officer at the month and year pillar?

IMHO, without taking into consideration LPs, this chart ‘s useful gods are DW/IW+DO/7K.

I personally don’t think DR/IR do any good to the DM because DM is already strong. The only exception is when DM becomes weaker during the LPs.

Am I right to say the following :
      During the LPs :
      1. When F/RW are too strong, useful gods are DW/IW+DO/7K.
      2. When DO/7K are too strong, useful gods are EG/HO + DW/IW.

  9. Sorry Trey,

I would like to correct something above.

    During the LPs

    During the LPs :
    1. When F/RW are too strong, useful gods are DW/IW+DO/7K.
    ****2. When DO/7K are too strong, useful gods are EG/HO + F/RW***
